Yesterday, by fluke I did a ph test and came up with a 4.5 reading!! My buddy was over and he just happens to test water with digital meters and confirmed the ph level. Great....ph crash, wasn't sure what to do so posted several threads (my bad, I was scared for my new pickup) and got a lot of advice. I have read Rastapus' thread on the water in the lower mainland but chose to ignore. I do water changes on all my tanks every 4 days....why would I have to worry?! Boy was I wrong. An overdue change on my fx5, and one added piece of driftwood sent my ph crashing. With nothing in the tank to buffer, it dropped quick. Decided against coral in one of the canisters over a more long term buffering KH and GH plan. I can't even tell you the difference my fish even after one day!! My new 11" Green Terror wants to rip my face off and my 15" Endlicheri has never been so active. I want to first thank Grant and his team, as well as those providing similar advice, and second to let everyone know that if you haven't looked into the water issue in the lower mainland, do so and let my misfortune be an education for all..
